Chapter 609 Such a Life
Chapter 609 Such a Life
"Ahem, it was nothing special. You know how it is for someone with a strong sense of justice like me. When I encounter something like that, I naturally have to lend a hand. Upholding justice is the duty of every citizen, especially a paragon of youth such as myself! When I see something like that, how could I possibly ignore it?!" Lin Kuang declared righteously, his words flowing endlessly.
However, before he could finish, Mu Wan’s hand shot out and twisted his ear firmly.
In an instant, the loquacious Lin Kuang was like an unplugged computer, shutting down completely.
"Ahem, hey, honey, I was just boasting a little," Lin Kuang said hastily. "Just take it as a joke. Why are you getting so worked up?"
Otherwise, if Mu Wan truly decided to get rough, Lin Kuang feared he wouldn’t be able to handle the exquisite pain.
"Mhm, I know. You go on, keep boasting. It’s fine," Mu Wan said with a smile, looking utterly harmless.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang’s face fell. "I was wrong. I’ll stop boasting, okay?"
I was just bragging a bit, did she have to take it so seriously?! he grumbled inwardly.
"Are you really sorry?" Mu Wan asked, annoyed.
"Yes, yes, I’m sorry! Truly sorry," Lin Kuang pleaded for mercy.
At that, Mu Wan snorted. "I’ll let you off this one time, you jerk!"
Watching Mu Wan release him, Lin Kuang finally breathed a sigh of relief. That was a close call; the girl had nearly twisted his ear again. At this point, Lin Kuang decided to behave himself and stopped boasting. He didn’t dare to anymore.
The two chatted calmly for a while before Xinxin was the first to come running down the stairs.
"Uncle, we’re leaving now!" Xinxin said with a beam as she ran up to Lin Kuang.
With her hair draped over her shoulders and wearing a white dress, she looked just like a little princess.
"Alright, Uncle will take you out in a bit," Lin Kuang said, smiling as he lifted Xinxin onto his lap.
"Mhm! Uncle is the best!" Xinxin said happily.
Seeing how well Xinxin and Lin Kuang got along made even Mu Wan a little jealous.
What’s so great about this jerk? How could this adorable little girl be so close to him?
Just then, Liu Shilin, the Witch, Yang Ruotong, Yang Ruoxi, and Lin Guo’er all came down the stairs. The five beauties, each in a different outfit and with her own unique style, were all impossibly charming. The sight left Lin Kuang completely dazzled.
I can’t wait for tonight, when I can have my way with these beautiful women, he thought.
"Ahem, if I go out with all of you like this, do you think I’ll be hunted down by all the other guys?" Lin Kuang couldn’t help but ask as he looked at the group of beauties.
"You’d deserve it if they did. Since you have us now, you naturally have to take on some risks, don’t you think?" Lin Guo’er said with a smile.
Hearing this, the other women unanimously agreed.
"Alright then, I’ll muster up the courage to accompany you," Lin Kuang said with the air of a man marching to his doom, earning him a collective eye-roll and a fierce glare from the women.
"Ahem, I’ll go get the car," Lin Kuang said quickly.
"I’ll go too. One car won’t be enough for everyone," Liu Shilin said with a smile.
With that, Lin Kuang and Liu Shilin went to get the cars, and the women all piled in.
They drove to the commercial street, which was, after all, the liveliest place in town. There were shops on both sides and plenty of food stalls lining the wide road in the middle. The ensuing shopping trip ran Lin Kuang ragged. Every woman was buying things, and the shopping bags hanging off him piled higher and higher until they nearly formed a small mountain.
"My dearest ladies, shouldn’t we call it quits soon? If you buy any more, will it even fit in the cars?" Lin Kuang complained with a pained expression.
"If it doesn’t fit, you can take a taxi back," Lin Guo’er snorted, rolling her eyes at him. "Besides, we have no clothes to wear. Do you want us to go out naked?"
The other women all chimed in, agreeing that Lin Guo’er was absolutely right.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang nearly spat blood. Damn! The clothes in each of your closets outnumber everything I’ve worn in over twenty years, and you’re telling me you have nothing to wear? Give a guy a break! Lin Kuang roared inwardly, though of course, he only dared to do so in his head.
"Ahem, in that case, let’s carry on," Lin Kuang said with a smile, though he was so frustrated he could vomit blood.
Seeing this, Lin Guo’er and the others exchanged triumphant glances, their beautiful eyes gleaming with victory. It was enough to make Lin Kuang want to jump into the Huangpu River.
Their shopping journey didn’t finally conclude until nightfall, at which point Lin Kuang heaved a massive sigh of relief. If it had gone on any longer, he really wouldn’t have been able to take it.
"You all wait here. I’m going to put these clothes in the car," Lin Kuang announced. How was he supposed to eat or even walk around while carrying so many bags?
"I’ll go with you," the Witch said, feigning pity as she eyed the mountain of bags he was holding.
"Great, let’s go together," Lin Kuang said with a smile. He and the Witch headed back to the parking lot, where they managed to stuff all the shopping bags into the trunks of the two cars. As it turned out, they just barely fit.
"Phew, that was exhausting," Lin Kuang said, relieved.
"You’re tired from just that? To be considerate of you, we didn’t even buy that much," the Witch said, wrinkling her small nose.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang nearly choked. Considerate of me? My ass! Are you kidding me?!
"Alright, thank you, your highnesses," Lin Kuang said sullenly.
"Hmph, that’s more like it. Let’s go," the Witch said with a grin, then strode ahead.
Seeing this, Lin Kuang had no choice but to follow her helplessly.
Returning to the group, everyone switched into foodie mode. With so many snacks and such a beautiful night, why wouldn’t they eat? They ate their way from one end of the street to the other until everyone was stuffed.
Of course, having so many beauties at his side earned Lin Kuang a constant barrage of glares from his fellow men, who were practically oozing with envy, jealousy, and hate. Lin Kuang just looked back at them smugly, as if to say, "Don’t envy me, bro. My greatness is beyond your understanding." His attitude infuriated the men so much they looked ready to chop him into pieces.
Of course, I don’t care what they think. After all, not attracting jealousy just proves you’re mediocre, Lin Kuang mused.
"So, ladies, is everyone full?" Lin Kuang asked with a laugh as he rested on a bench.
"Of course we’re full," the beauties replied, laughing.
"Then what should we do next?" Lin Kuang asked, rubbing his hands together with a mischievous grin. "It’s getting late. Shouldn’t we be heading back to rest?"
Hearing his words, how could the women not know what the bastard was thinking?
"Go to hell, you jerk!" the Witch was the first to shout.
