the three of them sat in their container, waiting for someone to come see to them. technically, considering that those from other containers were out and about, causing a ruckus, they should have also been allowed to leave. but the fact that they hadn't suffered any harm at all, save for a small crack on their container, was highly suspicious.

as guests, they would not be questioned out right, but it was best to cooperate with the bank to avoid any unnecessary problems. after all, later on, lex would be relying on the bank as his backing, since he was hiding his origin from the midnight inn.

they talked among themselves, most about what they saw in the hall. one of the things that lex had to come to terms with was that many races were 'humanoid' in the sense that they had legs, a torso and anywhere from zero to six hands. oh, there was occasionally also a head.

they fit the generic template of humanoid, but they were definitely not a part of the humanoid alliance that humans, elves, celestials and such were a part of. what lex gathered so far was that to be a part of the alliance, besides having the body shape, they must also look similar.

for example, elves and humans looked similar, despite a few distinct differences. celestials and humans actually looked almost identical externally, and dwarves were basically just short, hairy humans. giants were large, hair humans, and fairies were tiny, almost hairless humans.

the pattern went on. but when they looked humanoid, but had scales, or their body was made of some unusual material, or if there were spikes sticking out of them, they were usually not from the alliance.

of course, not all those they saw in the hall were humanoid. many were also beasts, all of them formidable.

but lex quickly recovered, though he could not help but activate his left eye to study the laws of the realm a bit more. it was simultaneously breathtaking and mind numbingly immense.

he was so distracted by the intricate weave of laws that influenced every inch of this realm that he forgot to take in the beauty of the bank's compound itself, and soon found himself in a conference room.

gerard and velma were taken to other conference rooms so that they weren't 'disturbed' by each other while giving their transcript, but lex wa snot fooled. they just wanted to make sure that each of them gave their own accounts of the events leading up their arrival.

as it happened, bagheera followed them to the other conference room, while a different obsidian scaled panther came in to question lex.

"so, mr. lex, in your own words, can you tell me everything that happened prior to the incident, as well as during?" the panther politely asked while a pen and a notebook hovered in the air beside it, ready to note everything down.

"sure, it's not a problem," said lex, still somewhat distracted. he had nothing to hide, so only a small part of his consciousness was focused on answering while the rest of it just studied the laws of the realm.

in another conference room nearby, velma took a seat and made herself comfortable while bagheera sat opposite to her.

"once again, i'm so sorry for this," bagheera couldn't help but say in a professional tone. it seemed, on the surface, that he was being courteous, while the truth was something else entirely. although he was a representative of the bank, and they were in the bank, which meant he was absolutely safe, the panther started to feel nervous the moment he stepped in the room with this particular human.

it was as if the panther's instincts were telling him that he was trapped in the gaze of a predator, and there was nothing he could do about it. apologizing was just his way to cutting the tension. it did not work, for when velma smiled, bagheera felt more nervous than he had ever before!
