Chapter 172: The calamity 4
Chapter 172: The calamity 4
Be it Fabian, Aric, Amyra, or Alistair himself, the heretic was toying with them to his heart’s content.
The demon tilted his head almost casually, letting Amyra’s sword graze past, before backhanding her, sending the blond flying straight towards Aric who caught her. The force she carried though, knocked the air out of Aric’s lungs, and sent them both flying backwards.
The demon parried the thrusts of both Alistair and Fabian with his bare hands before he spun directed a kick at Fabian’s chest.
Bang!
The sheer force of the kick made Fabian fold in two as his chest caved in, before launching backwards, leaving a trail of coughed up blood.
"Fabian!" Alistair cried before he tried another desperate lunge at the demon. But the demon effortlessly ducked under the attack, before moving forward and holding Alistair by the neck.
"Is this all the omega rank prodigy amounts to?" The heretic cackled as he applied more pressure on his hold making Alistair struggle for something as meager as breath.
------------
On Damon’s side meanwhile.
As Damon’s reflection shattered in motes of light, all existing reflection on the first floor, including the main body and excluding those currently engaged, turned their head in a snapping motion towards the direction of the preparator.
The heretic who had impaled Damon with metal spikes was an even woman, and worse, she was a Sinner at the Zeta- rank.
"Kekeke!" The elf cackled darkly. "They did mention you were quite slippery."
BOOM!
The air was displaced as hailstorm of metal spikes materialized from nothing, and with a wave of the elf’s hand shot through the air and towards all the Damons she could see.
Damon, though confused about her words, did not let that deter him, and quickly moved on the defensive. All Damon’s weaved through the hail of metals with impossible agility, dodging most of the spikes.
Unfortunately for Damon, the spikes he thought he had dodged, suddenly paused mid air, before turning back to target him with even greater speed.
The metal spikes successfully struck most of the weaker reflections, and the disciples they were going against. As for the prime reflections and the main body meanwhile, they were able to successfully dodge the spikes once more.
"It’s so surreal." The heretic’s grin widened. "Even I can’t tell the real one among you all. Maybe this is why the higher ups want you gone along with golden boy over there, and the red princess.
"Want me gone?" Damon muttered in confusion. Why would the heretic’s want him gone? They were only supposed to target Alistair just as they did in the novel.
"Yes, you lot would be very troublesome should you be allowed to grow." The heretic grinned.
’Ah, the consequences of showing off.’ Damon inwardly sighed. ’I shouldn’t have let my ego lead me to showcasing my capabilities.’ He mused.
Even though, he was particularly peeved about becoming a trouble magnet. If Alistair could survive being one in the novel, then Damon was sure as well he could, fuck plot armor.
"I see." Damon nodded. "But I must ask you a question, what makes you think you are capable enough to kill m...."
BOOM!
Before Damon could finish his sentence, the air detonated as the eleven heretic had already appeared before him.
"I see, so you’re the real one huh?" She grinned as a metal spike pierced and expanded in Damon’s head, exploding his head to blood and gore near instantly.
However, to her shock, the headless Damon before her shatters in an epic display of light.
"I see now." One of the Damons nodded ro himself. "You’re a dumb one." He said much to the elf’s chagrin. "It’s almost insulting how you think I’d be stupid enough to engage in a conversation with you using my real body."
"How stupid. For all you know, my real body might not even be here."
"Shut up!" The heretic roared, another hail of metal spikes materialized mid air, and shooting towards the Damons who had surrounded at breakneck speed.
"Third art: Fall!" All Damons exerted the technique simultaneously, creating a destabilizing shockwave, and concentrating the power of the shockwave towards the heretic’s direction.
The metal spikes were torn to pieces, and the few surviving ones were hurtled back at their sender. Just when it seemed like the pieces would impale the heretic, they suddenly stopped. Her control over metal far exceeded the power of the shockwave.
This particular heretic originally had the ability to control metals, but upon advancing to the Zeta rank, she gained the ability to be able to materialize her very own metals, thereby increasing her lethality. Before, she had to rely on the environment to fight, but upon reaching the Zeta rank, she became capable of setting such environment for herself.
With a violent contraction of her arms, more metal spikes materialized mid air.
"A puny Eta+ ranked brat won’t get the better of me." The heretic grinned once more as both the metal spikes and her body began to release palpable dark and baleful aura.
’Shit!’
A bead of sweat rolled down Damon’s forehead. His prime reflections were performing particularly well, but even though, they couldn’t quite match the raw physical stats of a Zeta- ranked aetherial, as evidenced by the reflection whose head had exploded. In truth, the heretic had actually guessed right that the one who spoke to her was the real Damon.
And from his own perspective, he would have only noticed her when the metal had been inches away from his head. Luckily, his reflections had stronger stats, and were able to slightly react to the elf’s movements at the last second, successfully swapping with him.
Even then, before she enhanced herself with the dark baleful aura, his prime reflections could only slightly react to her movements, not to mention now.
Even still, Damon decided to take the initiative. "Blizzard vale!" One of the reflections poured his entire aether into the attack, including the one meant to hold him together.
The temperature plummeted to minus degrees as frost exploded from the edge of his sword and reached the heretic almost instantly, freezing both the elf and her metal spikes in a massive iceberg.
The reflection who executed the attack soon shattered. However, Damon didn’t even get the chance to feel joy at the result before the massive iceberg exploded, sending large fragments of ice flying everywhere.
Multiple metal spikes and fragments instantly followed, forcing Damon and his reflections to counterattack. Though some metal spikes successfully dispelled some of his reflections.
Before Damon could cry over spilled milk, the elf had suddenly appeared before his face.
...’What...’ Damon’s face blanked as the heretic’s foot fell towards him in an overhead strike. If it met Damon was sure he would lose this reflection too.
However, before the strike could connect, The elf suddenly slowed down in a way Damon was familiar with, but albeit not to a crawl.
Anastasia soon appeared behind the heretic, her longsword slashing towards the heretic’s neck. But with surprising agility, the elf twisted mid air, and transitioned her kick towards the redhead.
Anastasia was forced to abandon her attack, and block the kick with her sword.
Bang!
The redhead got launched backwards for quite a few meters, before she skidded to a stop right next to a Damon.
"She’s tough." Damon said.
"I can see that." The redhead admitted.
"The two of us together, we can take her." Damon replied, his eyes narrowing into slits.
"Hahahahaha!!" The elf broke into a hysterical fit of laughter.
"The two of you together, this brings me so much joy. I can’t even imagine my rewards should I be the one to finish you both! Hahahahaha!"
"Do you like hearing her talk?" Damon turned to Anastasia. "Because I’m tired of her voice." He added.
"What are we waiting for then?" Anastasia tilted her head. "Let’s silence her for good." Anastasia said as a scarlet aura burst out from her being.
"COME!!" The elven heretic roared as metal spikes materialized mid air, and the dark aura around her became more palpable. "I deal with you first, brat!" The heretic pointed at Damon and the metal spikes all but swept towards him.
"Sigh, I really need to get much stronger." Damon sighed as the metal spikes slowed down courstey of Anastasia’s ability.
If Damon was also at the Theta- rank, or preferably the Theta rank, this fight would have been much much easier. In fact he was confident that he’d be able to deal with the heretic long before Anastasia arrived to help.
"Summer blaze." A bright crimson arc launched at the meatal spikes blowing most away. It was then that Damon noticed something, and an idea occured to him.
"Where the hell is Rose?" He muttered.
