Chapter 676: I Came Here To Keep My Promise [Part 2]

"I’m sorry, Lapiz!" Alex apologized. "At the time, I felt your older sister was looking down on me too much, so I decided to be mean to her. Naturally, I only said that condition to her as a joke. If you don’t believe me, then ask her. She definitely knew I was only joking when I said it."

Aeris flinched in response because what Alex said was half true. Though she also had a counter-attack for his reply.

"I was mean to you because you dared to call me sister-in-law!" Aeris replied fearlessly. "Lapiz, listen to me. This guy has been eyeing you with impure thoughts.

"He probably only accepted your club application so you can become part of his harem! Are you going to deny this, Alex Stratos?!"

Now that the ball was on his court, Alex knew he had to overcome this question no matter what. And for that, he used his ultimate weapon!

"I know where Hy-Brasil will appear," Alex said calmly. "However, Senior Aeris wants the information from me without paying the equivalent exchange.

"That is an unfair transaction. And last but not least, Lapiz, even if I don’t tell your sister any information about Hy-Brasil, I was already planning to go there to save your mother. This I can say without a guilty conscience."

At the mention of their mother who was currently missing, Aeris and Lapiz glanced at each other.

Before she left, she wrote a letter telling her husband that she would go to Hy-Brasil to take care of something.

However, she never returned after that. Because of this, the King had used all the manpower and resources needed to find her.

Yet, no matter how many scouts he sent out, no matter how much gold he used, the path that led to Hy-Brasil was simply out of their reach.

It was an island that was said to only appear once every seven years.

Even if it appeared, it couldn’t be seen normally since it was hidden by mist.

"Do you really know where Hy-Brasil is?" Lapiz asked, her eyes filled with hope.

"Yes," Alex replied. "I know where it will appear. However, I can’t tell you where exactly it will appear."

"Why?" Aeris sneered. "I already told you that I plan to give you my body in exchange for the information."

If it meant she could reunite with her mother, then giving Alex what he wanted was something she could accept.

Though she also planned to let Lapiz know of Alex’s condition so that her sister would finally see Alex’s true colors and stay away from him.

"That’s because the condition for finding Hy-Brasil is by not telling anyone of its location," Alex answered. "Hy-Brasil is governed by The Moon, and it only appears on the night of the full moon."

The young man then pointed at the sky, making Aeris and Lapiz look up as well.

"Even now, The Moon is up there in the sky, watching us in silence," Alex stated. "Once the secret is out, it will hide Hy-Brasil in a different location, a location I can no longer be able to predict. Now, do you really want that to happen?"

Aeris bit her lips in return because she had forgotten about this fact.

Indeed, the Major Arcana, The Moon, was the deity who governed over Hy-Brasil.

It saw and heard everything, just like The Sun and The World.

If what Alex said was true, then if they missed this chance, they would have to wait for another seven years before the mysterious island appeared once more.

By then, they would no longer have any leads on where it would appear next.

One of the main reasons why Alex needed to go to Hy-Brasil with his friends was because of the Trial of the Hermit.

That was the next location that they had to go, which carried a great risk.

Why?

Because there was a chance that they, too, might also be spirited away if they didn’t finish the trial as soon as possible.

"So we can put this matter aside until you have confirmed with your own eyes whether what I say is true or not," Alex stated. "That is all I want to say."

Aeris wanted to say more, but she decided to keep her silence. She was afraid that if she tried to push Alex into a corner, he would throw caution to the wind and no longer help them.

Her mother was more important to her than petty quarrels, so she decided not to burn her bridges with Alex.

"Will you really save Mother?" Lapiz asked as she reached out to hold Alex’s hand.

"I will do my best," Alex replied.

"Can I come with you?" Lapiz looked at the young man with determination.

"There are risks involved," Alex answered while meeting her gaze. "If something goes wrong, we might also get stuck on Hy-Brasil. Are you sure you want to take that chance?"

Lapiz lowered her head. She had many insecurities, which included the lack of confidence. And yet, the hand she was holding right now was warm, giving her a silent strength that made her feel like she might really see her mother again.

"Yes," Lapiz replied. "Please take me with you."

Seeing her determined gaze, he nodded to acknowledge her resolve.

Alex sighed. "Very well. Hy-Brasil will appear after the inter-academy tournament ends. Prepare your heart and mind for anything."

"Understood." Lapiz lowered her head, and then looked at her hands that were holding onto Alex. "One more thing, Alex."

She didn’t raise her head as she continued to look at the hands holding hers.

"Sister... you mentioned my sister as your sister-in-law," Lapiz said the last words in a voice that was barely audible. "Does that mean that you like me?"

Aeris’ face turned solemn, while Alex felt like he just got stuck at an impasse.

He thought that he had safely maneuvered the talk away from this topic, and yet, here they were once more.

The young man thought of telling a white lie, but he tossed this idea aside.

Lapiz had an inferiority complex. If he were to lie to her right now, then it might affect her in ways he couldn’t possibly imagine.

Because of this, Alex gritted her teeth and gave her hand a light squeeze.

He then spoke his real feelings out loud, not caring what Aeris’ reaction would be, who was standing only a meter away from her sister.
