Chapter 1811: Blind Eye Tower (Part 1)
Chapter 1811: Blind Eye Tower (Part 1)
While Silvana was trying to understand at least part of her powers and the path she would have to follow in the future, Adam had already made his way through most of the Void Transit.
More than an hour had passed, and his body was gradually reaching its limit. Blood had started flowing from his nose about ten minutes ago, but Adam paid no attention to it.
From his conversation with Aiden, he understood that the Deep Ring of the Tarnished Lands was the farthest territory he could venture into.
If he had tried to go straight to the Gray Sea, his body wouldn’t have been able to handle it, and it would have ended badly.
Before even reaching the halfway point, Adam figured out how to navigate the Void Transit.
When a person was in any of the Void Routes, they were simultaneously present throughout the entire Void Transit.
As soon as Adam entered the Void Transit, he gained access to all points, whether it was the First Ring, the Primal Lands, or even the Dark Shore and the Void Routes under their strict control.
Thus, by directing his energy into the Void Transit, Adam was able to see the map, all the destination points, and choose the one he needed.
It wasn’t hard for him to determine which point led to the Blind Eye Tower, since it was marked with a similar tag and the background showed the territory Aiden had mentioned.
Adam managed this without much trouble on his first try, so once he gains more experience, he’ll be able to navigate the Void Transit much more actively and, most importantly, faster.
Sure, considering the distance he’d covered, an hour was nothing. If he’d used the fastest fighter jet, it would have taken him a whole day, or maybe even longer. He wasn’t sure exactly how far the Blind Eye Tower was from the Citadel.
"I can’t hold out much longer..." Adam thought as he moved forward. ’But I’m almost there, aren’t I? Damn, so all this time, the Lords and Second Rank Phantoms have been using this method of travel?’
Adam realized he was nowhere near the level of the world’s strongest beings, and that if this journey had taken him an hour, it might take someone like Damien or Gladius twenty minutes or even less.
The Void Transit allowed one to reach speeds far faster than the speed of sound, though of course it was nothing compared to the speed of light.
Crack.
Blood gushed from Adam’s ears as the veins under his eyes bulged.
He didn’t groan in pain or show any reaction, as he had expected.
He still had some reserves of strength left, but not much.
’That’s fine. I’ve withstood far greater pressure. As soon as I get out of here, I’ll quickly recover, but... there’s something that’s bothering me.’
Adam looked around, seeing the same purple tunnel, white spots, and the marked endpoint of the Void Routes.
’This isn’t a teleport. The Void Routes are more like cables running through the entire world, they actually exist as physical objects. So... is it possible that someone could catch up to and attack you even here?’
In fact, if someone significantly stronger than Adam wanted to do so, they could.
Adam was moving at a certain speed, and although the Void Transit had altered his body so he could move through a tunnel, he still retained his physical form.
However, the chances of that were slim. There was no point in trying to catch Adam inside the Void Transit when his opponent could wait for him near the endpoint.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
After a while, the Void Route trembled as Adam saw the outline of the rocky plateau.
"Alright, I’m almost here!" Adam clenched his fists and made one last sprint.
He entered one of the white spots, and at that very moment, the purple tunnel vanished, replaced by cold, stony lands.
Tap.
Adam’s feet touched the ground as a gust of wind swept past his face while his eyes were wide open.
Sure, when he used the Void Route at the Citadel, everything happened the same way, but he hadn’t expected the transition to be so abrupt after spending 70 minutes on the way.
"Gha!"
Suddenly, Adam’s heart clenched with pain as a stream of blood gushed from his mouth.
The crimson drops flooded the barren ground before him, causing him to fall to one knee while his pupils trembled.
"Tsk. What a strange sensation. I seem to be wounded, but the pain... the pain is spreading throughout my entire body."
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
A tremor sounded behind him, causing Adam to turn around.
The Void Route standing on the rocky plateau trembled before disappearing into the ground, becoming a small purple crystal peeking out at the surface.
’So in more dangerous lands, the Void Routes can take on more elusive shapes? Well, that makes sense, but a crystal like that would be pretty hard to spot.’
"Whatever. I won’t need that thing anytime soon." Adam scratched the back of his head as he got up from the ground.
The aftereffects of the Void Route would stay with him for a few more hours, but even a few breaths were enough for Adam to start feeling better.
"By the way... Come to think of it." Adam spread his arms wide, watching the pale-blue flows running through his fingers. "The energy density here is much higher than at Izardo or at the Forgotten Mills. So I’ve reached the Deep Ring, haven’t I?"
For a moment, Adam frowned.
He’d noticed it back at the Void Route but couldn’t focus on it. He couldn’t hear Silvana.
’Have we lost contact again? Is there some kind of barrier here?’
Adam shook his head.
’No, it doesn’t seem like it. If that were the case, it would have happened about an hour ago when I reached the middle of the Tarnished Lands, but I sensed that she cut off the connection the moment I left.’
In theory, Adam could have forced Silvana to re-establish contact through their inner space, but right now he had another goal.
His gaze was fixed on the dark tower standing in the distance on the hillside. Hovering above this tower was a huge orb, resembling a half-closed eye.
