Chapter 116 Map
Chapter 116 Map
Blood flowed on the ground, emitting a pungent, fishy stench.
The room was deathly silent.
Sherman's face was extremely grim.
He walked to the pool of blood, his eyes fixed on the two badges, his fists clenched so tightly they cracked.
"Blood magic... those two vampires are both at the third tier!" he gritted his teeth, "otherwise I wouldn't have been unable to stop them!"
Karen stared at the pool of blood on the ground, her mind replaying the scene of the two vampires committing suicide, and her stomach churned.
Although he had witnessed many deaths, this kind of death, which was a complete collapse from the inside out, still made him feel physically uncomfortable.
Moreover, those two vampires died too quickly.
They didn't even try to resist or escape; upon realizing they were surrounded, they chose suicide without hesitation.
What does this tell us?
This shows that they were prepared to die long ago, and that the conspiracy of the secret society was more important than the lives of everyone inside!
"Keep searching!" Sherman's voice was laced with suppressed rage. "Turn this room upside down!"
Upon hearing this, the group began searching.
Karen suppressed her nausea and scanned the entire room.
His gaze fell on the bed in the corner, where something seemed to be hidden in the crevices of the bed frame.
"There's something in here!"
He lifted the bed board and found several rolls of parchment in the interlayer, but these parchments did not exude the same terrible smell as before.
Upon opening it, I was shocked to find that it was a map of the City of No Breath, and there were more than a dozen points marked on it...
The Night Rose Tavern on Foldor Street, several shops on Queen Street, and a few warehouses in the dock area.
Even... there are two private residences near the city lord's mansion!
There are no annotations on the map other than marking these places.
However, Karen knew very well that these places were probably the sites of the Mystic Order's infiltration, or perhaps part of a conspiracy.
"Second Chief, take a look at this." He handed several sheets of parchment to Sherman.
Upon hearing this, Sherman took the map.
He glanced at it once, and his face darkened completely, his eyes as cold as a thousand-year-old glacier.
"Good...very good!" he said in a low voice, his tone filled with murderous intent. "These guys actually dared to lay a finger on the City Lord's Mansion; they really aren't afraid of death!"
After a moment's thought, he stood up and looked at Karen: "Remember, don't mention tonight's events to anyone outside of us, understand?"
Karen nodded: "Understood."
He knew Sherman meant for him not to tell his family what was happening here.
But he wouldn't have told anyone anyway.
After all, it involved vampires and the Secret Society, and he didn't want his father and sister to worry.
At this time, the order maintenance members who had finished all the work on the first floor also caught up.
"Let's call it a day." Sherman turned and walked out. "Take everything of value with you."
"Clean the site thoroughly, and by dawn tomorrow I want it to look like nothing ever happened."
Upon hearing this, the members of the Order Keeper began to get busy.
Karen also left the room, went down to the first floor, and walked straight out of the tavern.
He stood on the street, breathing in the fresh air outside.
The sign for the Night Rose Tavern still hangs on the door, swaying gently in the night breeze.
The signboard featured a red rose, which looked alluring and seductive in the firelight.
But no one would have guessed that such a famous tavern in the city would be hiding three vampires!
If they hadn't come here tonight, and those three vampires had continued to lie low, who knows what serious consequences might have occurred.
Ta-da.
Just then, footsteps sounded behind me.
After assigning the tasks, Sherman also left the tavern.
He glanced at Karen and said, "Come back to the branch with me. The leader wants to see you."
Karen nodded and leaped onto a fast horse belonging to the Order Keeper division.
Before leaving, he took one last look at the sign of the Night Rose Tavern.
In the night, that red rose was as vivid as a drop of blood.
...
Order Keepers Branch, Leader's Office.
Fiona sat behind her desk, her face even paler than when Karen had last seen her, and her aura seemed somewhat unsteady.
Karen quietly activated the mysterious runes and then discovered that the extraordinary elements within the other person's body flowed at varying speeds within the circuit.
He recalled Fiona's explanation last time, which seemed to be due to overwork and unhealed old injuries.
At this point, Sherman placed all the items seized from the Night Rose Tavern on the table and then gave a detailed report.
On the table, neatly arranged, were a mithril badge, the parchment written by Randall, account books and letters found in several hidden compartments of the tavern, and several maps of Breathless City marked with more than a dozen strongholds.
Fiona listened quietly to the report, her fingers tapping lightly on the table.
Her gaze remained fixed on the map, and she remained silent for nearly a minute.
"Sherman, you will lead two squads to conduct a search overnight, following the markers on the map," she said slowly, her voice calm but the gravity of the situation evident. "Remember, don't alert them; focus on reconnaissance."
Once the targets are identified, a capture plan is formulated, and then the entire force is apprehended in one fell swoop.
"Understood." Sherman acknowledged the order and turned to leave the conference room.
After the door closed, only Karen and Fiona remained in the conference room.
Fiona leaned back in her chair and rubbed her temples.
"Although you've heard this many times, I must tell you that you did a great job tonight." She suddenly spoke, her eyes filled with undisguised admiration, "You killed another vampire, seized crucial intelligence, and even found the Mystic Society's infiltration map."
Without you, they might have hidden in that tavern much longer, causing immeasurable consequences.
As she spoke, she got up and took out a few things from the cabinet next to her, then placed them on the table.
"This is your reward." Fiona looked at Karen, her eyes calm yet carrying a hint of peculiar emotion. "A thousand gold coins, an enchanted staff, and a batch of alchemy materials."
The staff was provided by the association, and the magic engraved on it can significantly reduce the energy consumption of the user when casting second-tier and lower-tier spells.
As for these alchemical materials, they are common items, ten pounds of each, enough to refine many professional elixirs and magical potions.
Karen opened the wooden box inside.
Inside were ten bags of gold coins, each containing one hundred coins.
Beside it was an oak staff, its shaft engraved with intricate magical patterns, and its head inlaid with a pale blue magical crystal.
Next to the staff was a rather large box containing various alchemical materials, many of which he didn't even know the names of.
"Thank you very much, Ms. Fiona," Karen said sincerely.
"This is what you deserve." Fiona smiled slightly on her pale face. "Also, if you come across any intelligence in the future, you can apply to me or one of the deputy leaders directly."
It's not necessary to go through the squad leader.
Karen's heart skipped a beat.
These words were partly an affirmation of him, and partly because Fiona had probably heard about the recent friction between him and Tyrone.
"clear."
After saying this, Karen bowed slightly and left the branch with a few items.
