Chapter 412: Natural Nemesis [1]
Chapter 412: Natural Nemesis [1]
The grey creature lunged forward with savage ferocity. It was a long, hunched humanoid monstrosity – two arms, two legs, a bent back, and a completely faceless head.
Its skin looked dull and ashen, like dead stone.
As it rushed him, the creature emitted those same mind-distorting sounds.
Yu Xuan frowned.
"How noisy."
Darkness gathered around his fists as he stepped forward instead of retreating.
The two collided head-on.
BOOM!
The impact blasted the creature backward across the white ground.
Yu Xuan remained standing, though he noticed something odd.
The creature looked... confused.
But Yu Xuan quickly realized something else.
Even though he was using Supreme Will, the damage it caused to the creature was minimal.
’So this thing isn’t affected much by willpower alone,’ he concluded.
The creature slammed both of its hands into the ground.
Instantly, two massive hands manifested beside Yu Xuan.
Then four.
Then eight.
The hands multiplied with terrifying precision, weaving together to form a sealed dome around him.
Before the dome could fully stabilize.
Yu Xuan’s eyes flashed.
[Immortal’s Gaze] – Annihilation.
Twin beams of destructive light tore outward, blasting massive holes through the forming dome.
Yet the structure repaired itself almost instantly.
"This is turning annoying." Yu Xuan shifted tactics.
His new nameless weapon responded to his will.
Hundreds of golden droplets suddenly emerged from his skin, each spinning rapidly like razor-edged chakrams.
They surged outward.
SHRRRRRK!
The rotating blades shredded through the dome’s structure, ripping it apart.
But in that same instant.
The creature suddenly appeared directly in front of him.
Its faceless head opened vertically into a horrifying mouth filled with jagged teeth.
It lunged forward to devour him.
Yu Xuan reacted instantly.
He grabbed both sides of the creature’s mouth with his hands, stopping its bite midway.
At the same time.
[Telekinesis] locked onto the monster’s body, freezing its movement.
Then Yu Xuan inhaled.
When he exhaled.
A torrent of blazing energy erupted from his mouth.
Dragon’s Breath.
The blast engulfed the creature completely, incinerating its body and sending the remains flying across the white plane.
Yu Xuan lowered his arms.
’...Why doesn’t this feel like a big deal?’ he wondered.
Moments later, the scattered remains began to twitch.
Grey flesh regenerated rapidly.
Within seconds, the creature stood up again as if nothing had happened.
Yu Xuan narrowed his eyes.
Then he noticed something unsettling.
The creature’s empty eye sockets were glowing faintly.
Those pupilless, emotionless eyes stared directly at him.
Not with anger.
Not with hatred.
But with greed.
The creature raised its arms and began moving them in strange, twisting motions. Its body started to swell and distort, as if preparing to evolve into something even more grotesque.
Yu Xuan did not intend to wait and see what that transformation would become.
With a flick of his will.
A rain of golden descended.
The nameless weapon fragmented into countless drops of liquid gold that tore into the creature’s body, carving deep holes through its grey flesh.
Yet in the middle of the bombardment.
The creature suddenly punched.
Yu Xuan’s [Ultra Instinct] flared violently, warning him of danger.
But it was already too late.
An invisible force struck him.
BANG!
Yu Xuan was blasted into the air.
’What—?!’ he thought in shock.
’How did I not sense anything?’
Before he could regain his footing, several more unseen strikes slammed into him, each blow arriving without any clear source.
Yu Xuan stabilized himself midair and immediately shifted tactics.
The golden droplets he had scattered earlier gathered together near the creature.
They condensed into a brilliant orb of liquid gold.
Yu Xuan smirked slightly.
"Haha... your noisy mouth is really annoying, enjoy this!"
The golden sphere pulsed once shining brightly.
Then.
BOOM!
A violent explosion swallowed the creature completely.
The blast scattered fragments of grey flesh across the battlefield before everything began evaporating into smoke.
Yu Xuan watched the fading remains carefully.
’...This isn’t over yet, is it?’ he thought.
He was right.
Within the drifting smoke, the creature began forming again.
But this time its appearance had changed.
Its body was smaller.
Thinner.
More ethereal.
It looked almost like a ghost, its grey form semi-transparent as if it existed halfway between reality and illusion.
The creature had adapted itself to match its opponent.
Yu Xuan extended his hand.
The nameless weapon instantly returned to him, flowing together into the shape of a sword.
The blade glowed crimson.
A terrifying sword intent surged outward, far more domineering than before.
Within the red aura, faint streaks of black appeared.
The influence of his newly awakened Supreme Will blending into the weapon.
Yu Xuan stepped forward and swung his blade.
A terrifying slash tore through the air, distorting space itself as it rushed toward the creature.
But, the attack passed straight through it.
As if the creature did not truly exist within space.
Yu Xuan’s eyes sharpened.
’That’s it...’
The realization came instantly.
’This thing is manipulating space at a higher level than I can currently perceive.’
It was doing so seamlessly, so smoothly that Yu Xuan could not even feel the spatial distortion occurring.
The creature raised its long, twisted fingers.
In the next instant, they appeared directly in front of Yu Xuan.
No movement.
No transition.
Just sudden arrival.
Yu Xuan reacted instinctively, slashing his sword through them.
The fingers fell.
But black blood leaked from the severed stumps.
Then something horrifying happened.
The droplets of blood twisted midair and reshaped themselves.
Each droplet transformed into a new finger, lunging at Yu Xuan from every direction.
Yu Xuan’s eyes flashed coldly.
[Blessing of Killing Intent].
His killing intent erupted outward.
Amplified by the nameless weapon’s blessing, the crimson aura spread across the battlefield, turning the entire space blood-red.
Everything touched by that aura began descending into madness.
Even the air seemed to tremble under the oppressive will to kill.
The creature was not exempt from its influence.
For the first time since the battle began.
It paused.
Its faceless head moved slightly as if it was trying very hard.
Then slowly.
The creature looked directly at Yu Xuan and smiled.
Its mouth twisted into an unnatural grin as broken words emerged from its throat in the crude Cultivator’s Tongue.
"You...will...com...plete... me..."
